John, one of us is confused. Maybe both of us. Consider:
1. Your normal email address is (I assume) "john
maKintosh.com"
2. You've created a forward file for the address extension
"john-pager" in your home directory.
3. The content of that forward file is "9134087243.6446432
pagenet.net"
4. But email to "john-pager
maKintosh.com" is going to
"mypagers-pager
emailaddress.com"
???
How can this be? Something else is going on here. Did you read my
previous response carefully and in its entirety? And check all
possible conditions/permutations related to the items I suggested
therein?
When I do a similar thing (putting a test user here on my system in
place of where you put the pager address), email sent to jseymour+ext
gets sent to that test user--just as I would have expected. The
"inside address" still says "jseymour+ext
jimsun.LinxNet.com", but it
does go where the ".forward+ext" (not the real name, btw) says it's to
go.
I think you must re-check your postfix configuration, including
anything you might have in any canonical and alias files. Or as Wietse
stated much more succinctly: "...you need to explain how
john-pager
maKintosh.com is aliased/forwarded to is aliased/forwarded to mypagers
emailaddress.com."
Regards,
Jim
