I *think* that if there's no resolv.conf, if the hostname is
actually the DNS domain, it will try that for lookups.
For the longest time we actually had a machine named `utdallas.edu',
and that box did not have a resolv.conf. Since the folks who
originally set this up long ago have long since assumed lives in
other universes, I tried to figure out why this was done. It has
now been a while, but I *think* I found a note in the Cricket book
that explained this. Alas, I digress.
Anyway, just putting 127.0.0.1 is probably a lot easier. ;-)
