I've just installed 19990906-pl07, but I didn't remember seeing this problem
in any of the patch notices - is there any documentation of the patches, aside
from your announcement emails? I looked in the source tarball, and I found
documentation of changes in the experimental versions, but couldn't see
anything about the 19990906 patch levels. I'll do as requested and let you
know if the problem recurrs.

What is the recommended way of doing this? I normally just extract the source
tarball and do a 'make'.
