My free server is running 190k of users :) rapidly growing...
Linux has litle uid counter that limits maximal number of useres to 64k...
You can change it - Alen wrote to me that it won't be done becouse it would
breake comatibility with programs...

It was cheaper and faster to change Linux or even easier to change FreeBSD

According to our system - we run postfix on it and it works ok. It has nor
problems with big uids, and authentification with user database (like in
FreeBSD pwd.db)...
