mail incoming via uucp is very bursty: the mail is queued till
a transfer (every few hours here), is still queued on the target system
till all messages are received, and then uucp fired all messages
to the mta.
with smail and exim i configured them to spool incoming mail, and deliver
every 5 minutes.
but now with postfix, again the system tried to deliver ASAP, so uucp
starts serial a lot of processes, but postfix in parallel also starts
a lot of processes. together this makes my p120 very slow.
how can i calm the situation ? parallel delivery is fine, but together
with a bursty mail delivery its a problem here.
i was the victim of an ugly tailor uucp race condition this morning,
and i hope it will not happen again if i can remove this stress from
the system.
