I knew marketing would do this to me eventually.
The request just came in: can we add a footer to every email message
that's sent out through our corporate mail server?
What they want is this: we sell audio books, and every message that
someone from our company sends (*not* forwards, just new messages) from
their desks (MS Outlook) should pass through a process which goes to our
Oracle database, grabs an audiobook title, and adds a little "Did you know
we sell this title?" to the bottom of their email message.
I don't think I want to do this simply because I don't think my mail
server should be modifying the content of anyone's mail, but then again
OneList adds a commercial at the bottom of each of their messages. Has
anybody done anything like this? I'm reasonably sure that postfix doesn't
do this automatically -- would I have to patch it, or is there a way
outside of (but in conjuction with) postfix to have this done?
Thanks,
-Adam
