trivial-rewrite and append_at_myorigin

Subject: trivial-rewrite and append_at_myorigin

Hi all, I have a question about the append_at_myorigin configuration
variable. On messages coming into my system, destined for a Mailman
mailing list, I occasionally see From: addresses that look like this...

From: john brownsomeplace.com

It's not hard to craft a message that looks like this. When Postfix
turns around and delivers this message, it munges the From: field to
look like

From: johnpython.org, brownsomeplace.com

which is obviously wrong. Looking at the trivial-rewrite manpage, it
seems to me that append_at_myorigin should control this. However,
even when I turn this off, I still get the From: field mangling. Just
for kicks, I tried turning off append_dot_mydomain too, but that
didn't change anything (I sorta didn't expect it to).

Perhaps I misunderstand what the purpose of this conf variable is.
Ideal behavior would be for the From: header to not get munged at all,
and to just be forwarded to the mailing list verbatim.

Any help will be appreciated. Please CC me on replies.

Thanks,
-Barry
