well, perhaps in the future I'll revisit it. Right now, I found out that
it seemlessly works with postfix. I was quite surprised.
So far postfix has been very good to me. I'm pleased. I created a few
header restrictions ('Subject:' stuff) without any problems and I could
not figure out how to do this easily in sendmail (i'm not an m4 fan).
One comment though. I was reading the sample config files and they say,
"DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE. EDIT THE MAIN.CF FILE INSTEAD."
My confusion was that not every option that exists in every sample config
file exists in the mail config file, so I had to cut and paste config
lines (and comments) into the main one. This wasn't a MAJOR problem, just
an inconvience and could get confusing for new people. Esp. those not THAT
familiar with servers, daemons yet, blah blah.
I have 2 further questions..small ones.
1) For virtual emails in a domain I should have all the following in my
virtuals file?
alias
domain.com points
to.com
domain.com points
to.com
domain.com whatever
The 2nd line to catch the everythingelse
domain.com and the third line so
postfix knows to accept mail for that domain? If I leave out the 3rd line,
i get relay error, if i leave out the 2nd but keep the 3rd, there's no
relay error, but unknown user error.
Just double-checking
2a) How can I create a regexp header restriction to take care of blank
from, blank return path, and blank to: addresses (even ones with just "")
..and is this plausible?
2b) How can I create a regexp header restriction to deny mail if the from:
address and to: address are the same, and NOT one of the domains I accept
mail for. I.E.
