trouble running postfix

I am new here. I had compiled snapshots >= 09dd under SuSE-Linux 6.1
and could run postfix. On Xmas 1999 I installed SuSE-Linux
6.3, which uses libc-2.1.2. Now I have to use SENDMAIL again.

Running recompiled snapshots 09dd ... 12dd always showed in
'/var/log/mail':

when I tried to send a mail via MODEM. Receiving mail via MODEM
was possible, sending mail to me at LOCALHOST was possible.

Does anybody know the trick?
