On the Unix side, fetchmail supports imaps and pop3s (IANA refers to
them as pop3s and imaps rather than the older simap and spop3). The SSL
patches are now in the stock fetchmail sources (current rev 5.2). The
"international" version of Mutt also supports imap with SSL. Don't know
about pop3 with SSL, however. Pine, which supports imap, does NOT support
imaps, however. Since pine is developed and hosted in the US, that's not
real surprising.
