One year ago I was in the same situation like you which MTA tu use.
Naturally I have tried sendmail and spent some nights for hacking it and
understanding the 'sendmail-bible' from Costales and Alman. Qmail at the
other hand is surely a powerful mailer but postfix is - in my opinion -
more easy to configure.

After installing postfix in our organisation (300 Users) we have not had
any problem with the mailer. Postfix is doing a good job.
