if you want to switch to postfix, then that might be the price you have
to pay (until postfix does what you want). seems to me that
occasionally sending a non-commercial message via the commercial link
isn't too bad (better to err on the side of caution). your opinion may
differ, of course.

it's up to you to decide whether the benefits that postfix offers
outweigh the negatives.

source for postfix is available and i'm sure wietse would accept a
well-written patch that does what you want. many of postfix's features
were added by users with a particular need.

i haven't done any hacking on postfix but by all accounts the code is
very easy to work with - it's certainly a pleasure to read.
