NO. Do not ever mention autoconf in my presence.

Postfix is ported to a system BEFORE it is released. There shall
be no automatic discovery at build time. Everything MUST be frozen
before code is even released.

This is a matter of religious principle. Postfix builds out of the
box in environments that are known, and refuses to build elsewhere.
I have no desire to receive questions from people who find my
software is broken because they build in an unknown environment.

I have been maintaining freeware and non-freeware since 1986 for
dozens of UNIX and non-UNIX variants. I will not be told how to
write portable and maintainable software.

Now I know that one certain UNIX clone f*s up the compilation
environment with annoying frequency. That is a discipline problem
with that certain UNIX clone, and I have no desire to make it my
problem by messing up Postfix.
