I was running Suse Linux 6.2
I upgraded (yast upgrade) apache from 3.6 to 3.9 from Suse's site.

This failed, I couldn't start apache so I went back to apache 3.6
(Suse and yast use rpm's)

Apache then worked but I found out the next morning that my email
was really really wrecked. I couldn't even deliver mail locally.

I realized that I had stomped on a shared library with my apache
install.

So I upgraded fully to Suse 6.3

One bad effect was changing the config file to not look for my
specially added listar virtual maps and aliases. Easily fixed.

MySQL died (not relevant here)

But now I generate no mail log. In /var/log are two mail logs
that are gzipped one from december and the other from
Jan 13 (the day of the Suse upgrade).

I've looked through main.cf and can't find anything that specifies
a mail log.
