Actually, I think the requested enhancement (having Postfix's UBE
checks able to just mark up the headers rather than bouncing
directly) is the most elegant solution to that problem. If the
desired local policy were "let the users have control" rather than
"bounce everything that fails these rules, site-wide" then if the
checks just marked up the headers and made all indicated local
deliveries, each user could pick their own checks.
I've got some quite aggressive anti-UBE rules in my own email
handling (currently implemented with a bunch of procmail, including
Junkfilter with a bunch of custom rules added), which currently seem
to catch nearly everything. They all get routed to a spam box, and I
can usually just peek at that box's index in mutt and agree that
it's all trash; on those rare occasions when a good message is
mistakenly flagged (e.g. buggy MUAs producing invalid Date headers)
I see 'em and re-file 'em by hand.
