That means you have a glibc 2.1 system.

So this is not enough (actually, it's not even needed).
glibc 2.1 systems use /lib/libnss_dns.so.2.
Add /lib/libnss_nis.so.2 and /lib/libnss_compat.so.2 if you use NIS.
If you wonder where these libraries come from, look at
/etc/nsswitch.conf.
