I have just had a problem with an erroneous mailing list entry.
The list was an alias pointing to an entry of the form
listname :include:listfile,archivefile
The entry in listfile had a "[" in the username part, i.e.
:
bjs[wsfyz
public.bta.net.cn
bjswsfyz
public.bta.net.cn
:
The effect was that the message got stuck in the queue, appending to
the archive file each time round.
Mailq reported "(alias database unavailable)"
and showed an address of :-
"[wsfyz
public.bta.net.cn ]"
hgmp.mrc.ac.uk
Is this expected behaviour or should it be trapped?
Removing the erroneous entry from listfile soon cleared the problem.
All the best
