However, your experience with buggered filesystems losing data, and
behaving worse with asynch writes enabled, may just possibly not
carry over to ext2fs. It doesn't apply, in fact, based on my
experience and that of many other people.

You are the one confusing the issue. You insist on carrying your
experience with other filesystems and OSes, and their fondness for
crashing and inclination to lose data when they do, over into
discussions of Linux with ext2fs and its asynch mounts.
