i had to dink with solid-pop a bit to get it to compile. i can't remember
what i did but i think it was assuming a library was linked in by default
that wasn't ...

however my experimentation with solid-pop under solaris and linux has been a
little dissapointing, it acts sporadically and is difficult to debug when it
doesn't work. my impression is that it is still a very young piece of
software and not really mature yet. while still being developed it doesn't
appear to be particularly agressivly developed (i got no response from the
author from either of my two emails and i haven't seen a new release in a
long time).

i also haven't been able to find anyone who is using it on a site of any
decent size. i would probably recommend using the popper that comes with
qmail instead if you want maildir support.

i would love to see maildir patches to cucipop (though it is basically
unmaintained now as well) or qpopper.
