Hallo,

after running postfix for eleven months now I suddenly have a very
bizarre problem that I couldn't find an answer to: I have a mail alias
that contains all employees at my site and since yesterday a message
posted to that aliases gets resend every hour or so. I found a mistake
in /etc/aliases (typo with new user) and fixed it. I checked
/etc/aliases a dozen times and I'm absolutely sure tere is no mistake in
there anymore. I stopped and restarted postfix on both our main mail
server and on the gateway server where it's also running and also did a
postfix flush. Mail aliases (we have several) have beeen working
perfectly (as did everything else) for the last eleven months.
My first concern is: how do I get the repeatedly sent messages out of
the system?
My second concern is: how do I prevent this problem in the future? I'm
using postfix in the version of March 99. I saw no reason to update as
it was always working perfectly and I'm a "burned kid" (never touch a
running system).

I hope somebody can help. I'm getting calls of annoyed users all day...

Christoph Martyn
