You're absolutely right, I'd managed to completely overlook that in
my previous reads of the docs. So it looks like it might be possible
to actually match what is needed with procmail, using a regular
egrep-style pattern with the same strategy as my PCRE pattern. I
completely missed it. Thanks!

Now that I don't think helps; procmail is not a MIME processor, so
"headers" that occur within the body wouldn't enjoy that benefit,
would they?
