Subject: local delivery setup

I have been beating my head against the wall for days now on this problem
and will now plea for help (before I knock myself completely senseless)
while recognizing that I am probably doing something very trivial wrong.

Here is my situation:
All mail addressed to me at my isp-provider and anyone at my-domain is
dumped into a single pop3 account at my isp-provider.

I have a private network which connects to the isp-provider using a lrp
dialup connection with dynamic ip addresses (this part has worked well for
years). On the private network, I am now trying to setup an email server to
collect the email from the pop3 account at the isp and distribute the email
according to the names (i.e. name at my-domain).

I have successfully set up relaying and canonical maps to send mail to the
pop3 and retrieve mail from the pop3. The rewriting puts the correct
recipient on the addresses (user account at my private email server machine
name). However, the email is all dumped into the single default account on
the email server--nothing goes to the right user email accounts. I am
baffled by this and out of ideas.

TIA,
David
