IMAP server with 400.000 (or even 9000) accounts 50MB each is much more of
Document Database Server than a mailserver, with all database problems
attached (backup/concurrency/reliability/replicating/security/resources etc.
etc.) and a IMAP access language as a (relatively minor) feature. MS
Exchange and Lotus Notes goes all the way to being a (distributed) database
and Cyrus is on the march ;-) While it's a very interesting topic per se,
it's a bit outside of this maillist (IMHO).
I think IMAP is really a database access protocol masqueraded as
mail-reading protocol to avoid too many questions...
