Subject: Delay in local deliveries...

Hi,

Has anyone had any experiences where they had a perfectly stable Postfix
installation on a machine, and where it suddenly started introducing huge
delays in making local deliveries? (in this case, to a mailing list
software package - Listar) Normally sending something to the listar alias
gets a instant response, but now:

-=-
Jun 14 23:58:53 smeghead
postfix/smtpd[1078]: 05E6C3E30: client=tardis.xxx.xxx[xxx.xxx.xxx.x]
Jun 14 23:59:49 smeghead
postfix/cleanup[1079]: 05E6C3E30: message-id=<Pine.BSF.4.21.0006150000020.769-100000tardis.xxx.xxx>
Jun 14 23:59:49 smeghead
postfix/qmgr[362]: 05E6C3E30: from=<plosherxxx.xxx>, size=915 (queue
active)
Jun 15 01:07:50 smeghead
postfix/local[511]: 05E6C3E30: to=<listarsmeghead.xxxx.xxx>, relay=local,
delay=4137, status=sent ("|/usr/local/listar/listar -c listar.cfg")
-=-

4137 seconds? (It ranges from 2 minutes to six hours if at all now)

Also, when the MLM sends a message and opens a connection on the SMTP port
it takes around 30 seconds to acknowledge a address as a recipient on a
message.

the /var partition on the box filled up yesterday, and I nuked and
regenerated the queue files in case there was any corruption caused
by the overflow.

As I said this combination has been running smoothly for the past year, so
I am not sure what is going on.

(This is FreeBSD v3.4-STABLE and Postfix 19991231-pl08)

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have.

-Peter
