Fransciso,
How many simultaneous SMTP connections does the mailing list server use
to pump email into your delivery server? If it's not critical that these
messages
be delivered right away, then it's not critical that they ram them down your
throat
with a large number of simultaneous deliverys. If so, ask them them to back
it down.
> Will 256MB be OK?
If you receive 20,000 messages of 20k, that's not enough. Since you have an
8GB drive,
why be stingy with the spool space.

"mqueue?"
Typically it's all in /var/spool/postfix. "mqueue" is a Sendmail-ism.
> Will 50 SMTP agents be ok with 64MBs?
Depends on your individual system resources. For example, my system (DEC
Alpha Tru64 UNIX)
is currently using 78MB for the kernel and 24MB for the name service cache.
You may want to trim things
down in resources.cf. Memory is fairly cheap nowdays, why not buy some
more. If nothing else trade
the 8 GB drive to someone else in exchane for a 2GB and some memory.

Posfix is a better performer than Sendmail, by design.
