Ralf,

Text makes mention that master.cf is the file where these modifications are
to be made. I made the changes there as you see them in the sample below.
Also issued "postfix reload", but when I did, could not connect to port 25
anymore. This lead me to believe the parameters are 1) not being specified
correctly or 2) their location is not where I am making them - master.cf -
although text does not mention another file.

Anyone using these parameters that can lend a hand? Perhaps a sample of
what your .cf file looks like?

Yes, that way. Issue a "postfix reload" and
