Hi,
Since is is my first post on this list since i've subscribed (
few weeks ago), let me introduce myself quickly.
My name is Philippe Gramoulle and i work as a sysadmin for
Multimania company. ( multimania.fr )
We switched from sendmail to postfix 6 months ago as i got into
the company and i'm VERY pleased with it as we send regularly some
mail to our 500.000 users.
I've installed postfix with MySQL on a test server and configured it
so that if i send a mail to,say mlist_one, a mail is sent to everyone
that matches that name.
As i want to switch from Postfix+Majordomo to Postfix+MySQL, i have few
questions:
1) What would be the stress on the database ?
To quote the MYSQL_README file : "Performance of postfix with mysql has
not been thoroughly tested, however, we have found it to be stable"
2) How would the system handle one SQL request that generates one queue
of 400.000 mails.
Right now, if i must send one info letter to 200.000 people, i sort the
emails by biggest domains and build the corresponding mailing lists.
I send about 200.000 in 2 hours that way so i would like the MySQL
system
to be as efficient as the one that i use right now.
I would be happy to hear about people that set up a Postfix + Mysql
system
that send large amounts of mail.
Truly yours,
Philippe Gramoulle
