Someone ate your configuration and/or data base files or directory. Did
your system suffer from file system corruption or break-ins? From kernel
problems? Memory problems? Hard disk problems?
As to your INSTALL.sh problem: give your INSTALL.sh absolute paths like
it requests, it looks like it is suffering from undefined variables.
INSTALL.sh has *never* been a problem for me.
