No, I don't expect it to happen in the near futute. Just consider how
active Wietse is on this list. Estimate all his daily E-mail traffic:
just reading all the messages (and answering nothing at all) can cost him
plenty of time! And Postfix is a one man show. Wietse decides what is
blessed into his code, and he has the good reason to keep the quality
high, the design clean. And there are priorities as well.
The patch is a clean hack mainly on the smptd daemon of Postfix. As it was
discussed previously on this list, the proper approach would be to
extract the current filtering capabilities from the smtpd and cleanup
daemons and create a new filtering sub-process/daemon in Postfix to do the
dirty job. However, it is still on the todo lists...
I should say something good for the sake of my patch too :-):
In the mid of April last year I had an E-mail conversation with Wietse
and I integrated all his complains, suggestions into the patch. Since
then two bugs has been fixed, otherwise the patch was only updated to the
newer snapshot releases. We are not a big site - about 40000 messages/day,
but since we ran the patched system, around a million messages went
trough it without problems.

Jozsef
