It was postconf -n output, so nothing was listed since I left the
default value (MAILER-DAEMON) in place. Additionally, I had
forgotten to add an alias for that address. Redirecting it to
/dev/null and moving the messages from deferred to maildrop then
lead to delivery to the bit sink.
Thanks for hinting in that direction.
(Still, I don't understand why the messages weren't killed by
cleanup in the first place, and how these strange "bad defer
records" came into existence. Maybe I'll try to reproduce the
situation over the week-end.)
