    I haven't done it yet but am considering the same:

    Here's what I've been thinking:

    1) Be sure that the machine you run the maildir's on
    isn't a standalone desktop. Kmail, for example, doesn't
    use maildir's yet on local hosts.

    2) Be sure that your pop server is OK with maildir's.

    3) Set up an MX backup server. That way you can take
    down the "main" server for a little while, and let it collect
    the mail ready to resend it to the main server when it
    comes back online.

    4) Consider moving one domain at a time (preferably several
    test subdomains at first) to another server entirely. Users
    would have to be told when it is there turn to switch to
    change pop servers.

    Anyway, these are some thoughts I've been having on the
