I'd suggest checking with the SASL mailing list. Check
http://asg.web.cmu.edu/cyrus for details. Information about SASL logging and
SASL authentication is in the docs that come with Cyrus SASL. I'm a bit
worried about the "saslpasswd: generic failure" you got... Maybe you've got
conflicting db3 libraries compiled in?
