I've discovered to my chagrin that Netscape Mail, when offered SMTP
AUTH, demands a username and password from the user, even in the
case where the user is on a trusted network and does not have to
authorize.
I found a way to fix this behavior, but it involved hand-editing
Netscape's config file, and I don't want to ask the tech support
desk to deal with that kind of pain.
What are others doing about this?
We've been discussing the possibility of patching smtpd to offer
AUTH only when the client is not in $mynetworks. Wietse, is there
any chance that such a patch would be accepted, if it conformed to
Postfix style and came with a config parameter to turn it on and
off?
