Not that I'm normally one to defend SuSE (they are, after all, the worst
commercial Linux except for Caldera ;-), but that's not as inconsistent as
it appears. Linux commercial distributions ship what they can support, and
the utils are debuggable and useful for all their customers (well, at least
the ones with legacy XFS partitions to mount), while XFS in the kernel is
not supportable yet: it doesn't run on all the platforms SuSE ships, they
know it doesn't work correctly even on the platforms that it does compile on
(fails stress tests, etc.), and so forth. Red Hat does / did the same
thing, for the same reasons, with XFS and Reiser.
