Hi Harry,
our system isn't in production yet, but the virtual user lookups works
very well. This is our virtual_maps entry in main.cf:
virtual_maps = ldap:virtualsource
virtualsource_server_host = 10.99.1.1
virtualsource_search_base = o=ourcompany,c=de
virtualsource_query_filter =
(&(|(mail=%s)(mailAlternateAddress=%s))(mailhost=mailhost))
virtualsource_result_attribute = mailTarget
virtualsource_bind = yes
virtualsource_bind_dn = cn=ldapadmin,o=ourcompany,c=de
virtualsource_bind_pw = topsecret
Our LDAP server stores the primary mailaddress in "mail" and aliases in
"mailAlternateAddress". The attribute "mailTarget" have's the real
target, that means the local mailbox-name or a forward-address. Of
course, you can use other attributes.
The bind settings are only necessary if your LDAP server needs a
priviledged user to read this attributes.
It's also possible to use a "
domainname" in mailAlternateAddress to
have a "catch-all" account for a domain.
Don't forget to let postfix know about the domains to be treated as
local, because relaying must be allowed for this domains (in
mydestination, for example).
Good luck,
Andreas
