I know you won't, but in case anyone would misunderstand this (stupid)
experiment, note that I power off my machine as soon as smtp-source
    finished.

Hmm.. I sent 1000 mails again, using ext3 for postfix spool and
my maildir. I power off my machine 3-4 times during the test
(after smtp-source finished). I only got 998 mail with my mutt.
There are 5 files on Maildir/tmp:

    adi:~> ls -l Maildir/tmp
    total 20
    -rw------- 1 adi adi 426 Feb 2 19:33 1012653184.22055_30.home.org
    -rw------- 1 adi adi 426 Feb 2 19:37 1012653408.384_81.home.org
    -rw------- 1 adi adi 426 Feb 2 19:38 1012653506.330_23.home.org
    -rw------- 1 adi adi 426 Feb 2 19:39 1012653582.330_58.home.org
    -rw------- 1 adi adi 426 Feb 2 19:42 1012653722.333_90.home.org

So basically in 'my environment' there is possibility that mail get lost ;-(
