As I said before, I don't know much about SASL (although interested) but
did compile it a few weeks ago, just to see what happens :-) Not linked
in with Postfix here mind you (not yet).
How did you compile the SASL libs? There are various options, some not
default - try ;
./configure --help
AUTH LOGIN is not enabled by default for instance.
--enable-login enable unsupported LOGIN authentication [no]
Might be worth checking ...
From the SASL_README also ;
