    Hello,

    Since this morning/last night, postfix (20010228-pl08) doesn't
    deliver local mail anymore. The maillog contains these messages:

    postfix/qmgr[5668]: fatal: timeout connecting to transport: local
    postfix/master[368]: warning: process /usr/libexec/postfix/qmgr pid 5668 exit status 1

    Running "postfix stop; postfix start" or "postfix flush" doesn't
    help, the messages stay queued. "postfix check" reports no errors.

    "mailq" shows the queue IDs with an "*", does that mean anything ?

    "top" shows that the "local" process consumes almost 100% CPU.
    An older message on this list said to run "strace -p <pid>" on the
    "local" process, but that didn't output anything.

    "postconf -n" says:
    -----
    alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
    biff = no
    command_directory = /usr/sbin
    daemon_directory = /usr/libexec/postfix
    debug_peer_level = 2
    local_recipient_maps = $alias_maps
    mail_owner = postfix
    maps_rbl_domains = relays.ordb.org
    mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain $mydomain
    myhostname = mail.dietrich.cx
    mynetworks = 192.168.0.0/24, 127.0.0.0/8
    myorigin = $mydomain
    queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix
    recipient_delimiter = +
    smtpd_client_restrictions = reject_maps_rbl
    smtpd_recipient_restrictions = reject_maps_rbl, permit_mynetworks, check_relay_domains
    smtpd_sender_restrictions = reject_maps_rbl, hash:/etc/postfix/access
    -----

    Any ideas ?

    Please reply to the list, since reading my mail is currently a PITA. :(

    Regards,
    Alexander Dietrich
