Hey folks,
I've noticed in my mail queue over the last month or so, entries that look
like this:
DEFA51A26FF 363 Fri Apr 26 11:36:29 chip
my-from-domain.net
(temporary failure)
"Chip Paswater (E-mail)"
fqdn.my-to-domain.com
Chip Paswater (E-mail)
fqdn.my-to-domain.com
And log entries look like:
postfix/smtpd[24346]: warning: Illegal address syntax from localhost[127.0.0.1] in RCPT command: <Chip Pasw
ater (E-mail)
fqdn.my-to-domain.com>
I think these are caused by broken outlook clients that are trying to send
mail to a user from a contact list entry. That's not important though...
My question is, if it's an illegal address syntax, why does Postfix just
put it back into the queue? Why not just bounce it?
