As many others have said, the book is no longer as relevant as it once
was. From my perspective, as someone who has been working with MTA's for
a decade or so, the book was disappointing: it wasn't the comprehensive
insightful reference that I was hoping for (being used to the Sendmail
bat book, which, in it's time, almost made up for sendmail's failings).
I'm not sure how valuable the book would be to a neophyte - I didn't
have any handy at the time... 8-)

But for most purposes, Postfix doesn't require such a book. If you start
with an almost empty config file, and only add needed directives (you'd
probably have less than 10 lines), you can't go too wrong (but remember
to test everything before you go live).

Even for hellishly complicated Postfix installations, I rarely had more
than 30 lines of config. Obviously the hard thing is knowing which 30
lines to use, but I worked up to it: I started converting the simple,
non-critical systems from Sendmail to Postfix first, so as to get my
    Postfix experience gently.

When it comes to doco, I found Postfix's to be adequate for my needs,
although I was grubbing around in the source extending postfix in ways
that I required (the code is a real pleasure - you can treat it as a
tutorial: there's plenty of hard won experience expressed in it). If
you get stuck, there's always this list, but don't forget to consult
the FAQ and check your logs before posting to the list.
