And this of course doesn't answer the questions and also does
not solve the problem.

Have a look at line 116 of maildir.c. Have a look at what my patch
does and *not*how* it is done. It is only intended to show the
problem.

If postfix is never going to create these directories automatically
then please say so, explicitly. And a "why" would also be appreciated.
At least this would answer my, and many other's, question.
