            Here is my "postconf -n" output.
    (start)----------------------
    alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
    command_directory = /usr/sbin
    daemon_directory = /usr/lib/postfix
    debug_peer_level = 2
    default_privs = nobody
    delay_warning_time = 4
    mail_owner = postfix
    mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail
    mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail -Y -a $DOMAIN
    mydomain = patriot.net
    myhostname = alanmcc
    myorigin = $mydomain
    queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix
    smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name ($mail_version) (Mandrake Linux)

                                --------------------------------(finish)
    NB: I have since, following the objections of the postfix program on
    bootup, changed "myhostname" in /etc/postfix/main.cf, to
    "alanmcc.patriot.net". It does not help local E-mail to go through; indeed
    it seems to have no effect that I can discern . . .

    I should note that this message will likely not go to
            wietseporcupine.org
    since, evidently, porcupine.org doesn't like to receive E-mail from
    an dynamically allocated address(at least that is my present diagnosis of
    the problem). I wish this behavior could be changed in postfix; it was
    not a problem when I ran qmail.

            Mr Venema, do you really think this slam was justified?
