    I'm not sure if this is applicable, but you might post this on the
    cyrus-sasl list. Here's an excerpt from the cyrus-sasl-2.1.6
    announcement:

      "the SASL 2.1.6 release contains an experimental MySQL plugin
      based off of Simon Loader's patch, and an experimental LDAP
      saslauthd module (Courtesy of Igor Brezac)."

    So there might still be some rough edges to iron out.
