    Hello.

I want to use Postfix-1.1.11 with LDAP support (OpenLDAP). I compiled and configure to send and deliver mail via LDAP resolution and it is OK.
Then I want to have my box better secured, I change the permission on main.cf from rw-r--r-- to rw------- for root only. But sendmail process said, that it wasn't correct and it could't access main.cf.
    The error message was:
Aug 6 12:37:51 sova postfix/sendmail[7792]: fatal: open /etc/postfix/main.cf: Permission denied

I found some mails in mailing lists, that it is not possible to have main.cf NOT world readable, because sendmail process is running in context of sending user. But in LDAP_README file is written, if you have your LDAP bind password (my situation), you should change the access permission to main.cf to be readable only via Postfix user, but it doesn't correspond with the explanation of the above error message. I don't know, what the author meaning was, but my way wasn't correct.

    Thanks,
    Ruda Wolf
