Hi Rudolf,
Nachricht vom Dienstag, 6. August 2002, 14:20:33:
RW> Hello.
RW> I want to use Postfix-1.1.11 with LDAP support (OpenLDAP). I
RW> compiled and configure to send and deliver mail via LDAP
RW> resolution and it is OK.
RW> Then I want to have my box better secured, I change the permission
RW> on main.cf from rw-r--r-- to rw------- for root only. But sendmail
RW> process said, that it wasn't correct and it could't access
RW> main.cf.
RW> The error message was:
RW> Aug 6 12:37:51 sova postfix/sendmail[7792]: fatal: open
RW> /etc/postfix/main.cf: Permission denied
RW> I found some mails in mailing lists, that it is not possible to
RW> have main.cf NOT world readable, because sendmail process is
RW> running in context of sending user. But in LDAP_README file is
RW> written, if you have your LDAP bind password (my situation), you
RW> should change the access permission to main.cf to be readable only
RW> via Postfix user, but it doesn't correspond with the
RW> explanation of the above error message. I don't know, what the
RW> author meaning was, but my way wasn't correct.
RW> Thanks,
RW> Ruda Wolf
Who is the owner of /etc/postfix/main.cf? Root or the user postfix
runs as?
