Ditto what everyone else said. Check /etc/resolv.conf to see what name
servers you're consulting. Check /etc/hosts to see if something looks odd
(e.g., you don't common entries like 127.0.0.1 as localhost). The bottom
line is that it sounds like postfix is trying to look up some information
and that is the source of the delay.
