I have tried looking in the archives, to no avail, maybe because I am
not really sure the nature of my own Question:-
I've recently wanted my postfix seerver accept mails for a new domain
[test.domain.com]. I've did the necessary changes to the domain, adding
the MX records, appended my relay_domains maps and created the necessary
vpopmail mailboxes.
However, I overlooked appending my transport tables, and I am getting
these errors:
Sep 10 15:00:45 beta postfix/smtp[8132]: fatal: connect #[nn] to
subsystem private/flush: Connection refused
Sep 10 15:00:46 beta postfix/qmgr[39571]: warning: premature
end-of-input on private/smtp socket while reading input attribute name
Sep 10 15:00:46 beta postfix/master[39567]: warning: process
/usr/local/libexec/postfix/smtp pid 8132 exit status 1
Sep 10 15:00:46 beta postfix/master[39567]: warning:
/usr/local/libexec/postfix/smtp: bad command startup -- throttling
Sep 10 15:00:46 beta postfix/qmgr[39571]: warning: private/smtp socket:
malformed response
Sep 10 15:00:46 beta postfix/qmgr[39571]: warning: transport smtp
failure -- see a previous warning/fatal/panic logfile record for the
problem description
The problem went away once I updated my transport tables with the
offending sub-domain.
However, assuming I wanted to be real paranoid, how do i ensure I wont
get these errors if someone mischievously points a MX record to my
Postfix server without my knowledge? My mail queue can easily be filled
up. Very easily. So .. is there something I overlooked or ignorant of?
Apart from this, Postfix + vpopmail + amavis + spamassassin rocks for
me!
I will gladly mail output of my postconf if somebody thinks it is
worthwhile to look into it.
Thanks
