I'm trying to get Postfix to simply act as an SMTP-server an to deliver
my mail from my Linux server at my provider's. As it is virtually
impossible to disable the anti-spam "features" I tried to install SMTP
AUTH using Cyrus-SASL with PAM for the authentication. This doesn't
work, because Postfix doesn't run as root and thus PAM can't read
/etc/passwd - great!
I don't want to use those Cyrus-SASL extra dbs for authentication, so is
there any possiblity to get Postfix to run as root or to configure PAM
to authenticate even not as root?
I really need some help here, as it already took me two whole days to
get this somewhat running and I really don't want to get back to that
ugly sendmail...
Thanks for any help,
Alexander
