      Forgive the obvious question, but is Solaris set to use hosts ahead
    of DNS for name resolution? If not, this file might be ignored after
    boot time. On Solaris either irs.conf or nsswitch.conf configures
    this, IIRC.

      Try "host mailout.msxi-euro.com" at the command line and see if it
    resolves there.
