    Everytime.

    I find this quite complicated. We simply switched from mbox to maildir
    in mid-flight and then ran the automatisch conversion script that
    converted mbox to maildir for all users. C'est tout.

To do the actual install you have to be root, but none of the normal
build should require that. Don't take the name of root in vain.
